Weapons Charges in Wisconsin
Are concealed weapons ok?
Wisconsin has carrying a concealed weapon (CCW) laws. In Wisconsin, you can lawfully carry a concealed weapon if you have a valid license to do so or you are either in your own home or place of business or on land that you own, lease, or legally occupy. If you do not fall into either one of these two categories, you can be found guilty of a class A misdemeanor.
What about shotguns?
In Wisconsin, it is illegal to possess, transport, purchase, sell or carry a short-barreled shotgun. If you do, you can be charged with a class H felony. It is also illegal to own any type of shotgun if any of the following situations are true: (1) you have been convicted of a Wisconsin felony or the equivalent of a Wisconsin felony; (2) you have been found not guilty of a charge by reason of mental disease or defect; (3) you have been involuntarily committed under a Chapter 51; or (4) you have been ordered not to possess a firearm. If you own a shotgun under any one of these situations, you can be facing a class G felony.
